Dear members and friends of the SME UNION,
There are only a few days left until the European Parliament Elections take place from 4-7 June 2009. Soon 375 million European citizens will decide about the 736 Members of the European Parliament.
A few months ago the SME Circle Members already received our SME UNION Election manifesto "9 Reasons for 2009" as well as other relevant documents for their EP election campaigns. We want to draw your attention to this suppor-tive information once again. The "9 Reasons for 2009 - If business goes well - all are well", put forward by the SME UNION of the EPP, shows why European businessmen will vote for the EPP family parties and their candidates for the June 2009 Parliamentary Elections. Please find the "9 Reasons for 2009" as well as additional useful information for the EP election campaigns
We are also delighted to send you attached the "SME Circle Achievements" which the SME Circle compiled under the Presidency of MEP Zsolt Becsey. The "SME Circle Achievements" are translated in all 22 (!) official EU languages, (German, French, Czech, Bulgarian, Romanian, etc.) Please find the document in your own language here
In July 2009 the EU Council Presidency will be passed on from the Czech Re-public to Sweden. Therefore, we have hammered out “12 SME UNION Priorities for the upcoming Swedish EU Council Presidency” which have been adopted by the Presidency on 13 May in Prague. The document includes the crucial points that the SME UNION urges to implement and push forward during the up-coming Swedish EU Council Presidency. We sent those priorities to the Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, as well as to the new Czech Prime Minister and the Presidents of the European Commission, European Parliament, EPP-ED group and European People’s Party. Please click for the 12 Priorities.
Furthermore, the European Peolple´s Party adopted at the election Congress in Warsaw end of April its EPP election manifesto with the five topics of “Creating Prosperity for Everyone”, “Making Europe a Safer Place”, “Combating Climate Change”, “Tackling the Demographic Challenge” and “Uniting Europe on the World Stage”. Please click for more information.
Last but not least, we ask you to make your choice for SMEs and for our MEPs from our EPP family on your EP election day. SMEs are the backbone of our economy - therefore, let's support SMEs because SMEs make the difference!
With kind regards,
Patrick Voller
Secretary General of the SME UNION
